WORTH

Today is World Down Syndrome Day. It’s just a day, but it’s a day set aside for a community of warriors to raise their voices just a little LOUDER to shout out the WORTH of PEOPLE.

I am SHOUTING the WORTH of Down Syndrome, and I’m am SHOUTING the WORTH and VALUE of HUMAN BEINGS. We are created beautiful and precious, and our lives with ALL of the abilities that tag along, are WORTHY to be lived, are worthy of love, and are worth celebrating.

It’s a perspective shift. I have to take my eyes off of me in order to champion the people around me. BUT I WILL. I will probably fail sometimes. I won’t always get it right. But I WILL NEVER GIVE UP fighting.

I love how @cutebowdaddyo, a momma and a fighter, describes her dream:

“My hope is that we,  as a more informed society, will be happy and excited for new parents of children with all abilities. I wish I could tell my younger self of all of the wonderful things that would happen💖All of the happy moments! How your heart and friend circle will grow in ways you never could have dreamed! Is being a parent hard? Yes! Being a parent is hard period! For all my children. Not just Hannah. And certainly not just in respect to her diagnosis. All my girls are different. All my girls have special needs in one way or another. They all make my life more beautiful. The only difference is that Lizzy and Abby are far more valuable in society's eyes. They don’t see ALL of the value in Hannah. So my job is to show them and you❤ I am proud to be Hannah’s mom😀 I am part of “The Lucky Few!” And today is our day!! HAPPY WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY!!! Let’s #shouttheirworth today and everyday!!”

I AM SHOUTING WORTH…..

WILL YOU?!!!
