DIY Fine Motor Rice Sensory Bin

A sensory bin is pretty much any type of "bin" or container with anything in it that gives sensory input. We recently just made a rice sensory bin and it was a hit! I love the rice because, even though its dry, it's edible. I don't have to worry about playtime in the bin as much when I know its not hazardous if it gets eaten. I also love that the rice isn't a throwing hazard - if rice does get thrown around, no ones going to get knocked out by it, so thats a win in my book!
What You Need:
- A bin - a shallow bin for play or a deeper one to sit and immerse in. Really, the size can be WHATEVER you choose it to be! This is the beauty of sensory bins !

2. A huge Costco-sized bag of rice (or two for refill purposes )

- Toys! Rice Sensory bins are all about tactile exploration, so the more things to feel, the better. I put different types of balls, utensils to scoop, small plastic animals. Pompoms, pipe cleaners, and ribbons are fun too! I tried to stick with smaller/ softer things (the animals aren’t so I keep a close eye on those) because I have a “thrower”.
